Your penultimate year before applying to college, tenth grade is the period when your admissions profile is expected to accumulate an identity. Our objective with 10th graders is to help build depth in a few meaningful areas of interest.
Guidance with course stream and board selection as well as exam registration for the transition into advanced coursework that accompanies AP courses, IBDP, AS and A levels, CBSE/ISC streams, etc. Identification of 2–3 primary areas of academic interest, plus adoption of college-ready rigor with a manageable courseload, including open-access co-curricular courses. (A precursor to intended major and college list selection.)
Guidance with identifying which exams to take—SAT vs. ACT as well as AP exams—and when, especially now that most elite universities are no longer test-optional.
Guidance with identifying 4–5 primary areas of extracurricular interest, including long-term membership in student organizations, community engagement, and hobbies. (A precursor to leadership position attainment, capstone project completion, and intended major and college list selection.)
Guidance with identifying a potential long-term capstone project and building requisite strategy, contacts, and deliverables via Athena’s extensive professional network of partners. (A precursor to leadership position attainment, capstone project completion, and intended major and college list selection.)
Advanced-level course modules, hosted by in-house doctorate-level subject matter experts, that meet weekly over several sessions and confer experiential learning within diverse fields such as physics or photography. As each course culminates in a project, your capstone project develops clarity and depth. Learn to write an advanced high school academic research paper under in-house doctorate-level subject matter experts. Afterward, receive guidance in getting published by reputable academic journals or present your findings at a reputable academic conference.
